Harvesting some drift kelp

After several years of warm water there is no kelp canopy that usually surrounds much of the island. I spotted a large patch of drift kelp, so we contacted the manager of the abalone aquaculture facility to see if he was interested. He has been feeding his abalone Eisenia and other less desirable brown algae, so he was grateful to have some Macrocystis to feed his baby abs.
